A New Life

If I look out of the window, I can still see where this tree once stood. A towering 60 ft. elm, it used to provide shade to the community where I live here in Birmingham. I was taking my first steps as a woodworker and I surely didn’t have experience in milling. Yet, on the day it was cut, I knew I had to rescue the lumber. The excitement and passion carried me throughout the whole process, and if I run my fingers on the smooth surface, I can still remember every step that was taken to transform the rough logs into a unique, beautifully crafted desk for me and my wife.
